‘Shocking’ air strike by Saudi-coalition kills more than 100 in Yemen
  • 5 years ago
At least 100 people were killed in an air strike in the city of Dhamar in southwestern Yemen on Sunday, September 1, 2019. A Saudi-led coalition reportedly carried out the attack on a detention centre operated by Houthi rebels. The International Committee of the Red Cross has sent rescuers to the scene. Yemen’s civil war has been underway since 2015, when Iran-aligned Houthis seized the Yemeni capital of Sanaa and a Saudi-led coalition intervened to support the Yemeni government.
