Luis hopes love will be sweeter the second time around

MANILA – Luis Manzano admitted he is hoping that love would be sweeter for him and his former girlfriend, actress Angel Locsin, the second time around. The TV host’s statement came after Locsin candidly confessed that she still loves Manzano, more than four years after they broke up. In an interview on Wednesday, a smiling Manzano said he learned about what Locsin had professed through the Twitter account of ABS-CBN News. “Nabalitaan ko in between taping. Nahawakan ko yung phone ko, nabasa ko ang mga kaganapan. It was on my Twitter feed sa ABS-CBN News. Nagulat ako, siyempre nagulat. I’m smiling about it so I guess it’s a very good thing,” he said. Manzano said he could not help but feel like a teenager who is in love when he first read the story about Locsin’s controversial admission. “Mukha nga akong nanonood ng ‘TGIS’ kanina na kinikilig nung nabasa ko eh. We still have to talk about it. I have no problem, I am smiling about it so maybe later or tomorrow mapag-usapan,” he said. “Maraming [hindi napag-usapan dati] and siguro this time, right after Christmas nung nag-start kaming mag-usap talaga, I think mas maayos ang usapan namin sa mga bagay-bagay, not necessarily sa naging relationship namin but in general. We’ve both matured na rin and ang ganda ng communication line namin ngayon,” he added. Echoing what the actress said, Manzano revealed he still loves Locsin as well because love “doesn’t just vanish.” “There is a saying [love is sweeter the second time around] for a reason. To quote my character Mark sa ‘In My Life,’ love doesn’t vanish into thin air just because you chose to go separate ways with someone,” he said. Despite this, Manzano stressed that Locsin was not the reason why he and Jennylyn Mercado broke up late last year. He said they also did not have any form of communication when they were not together. “There was no need [to talk]. We broke up and nakita namin na hindi naman kailangan mag-usap so respeto na rin sa mga respective significant others namin,” he said. Asked what his next move is, Manzano said: “Yung ligaw kasi mahirap kasi may past na kami. Kumbaga, we are slowly talking again. Sana kung pupunta sa patching things up and maybe rekindling, working things out sa mga nangyari dati.” “Mahal ko naman si Angel, definitely. Parang everything has been rekindled. It’s so hard to put it into words. Pero let the smiles on our faces, well for her case the tears on her eyes, speak on our behalf,” Manzano said.
