MANILA -- Host-actress Kris Aquino admitted for the first time that her friendship with comedian Vice Ganda was affected by the rivalry of their respective films "My Little Bossings" and "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" in the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival. Even before the annual film fest opened on Christmas Day, Vice Ganda had been vocal about topping the MMFF box office for the second year in a row. Last year, "Sisterakas," starring Vice Ganda, Ai Ai delas Alas and Aquino, dominated the film fest, grossing nearly P400 million during its theatrical run. During the recent MMFF, "My Little Bossings" edged "Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy" during the first week when festival organizer Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) regularly gave updates on the box office performance of the film. While the MMDA has yet to report the final box-office numbers for the recent MMFF, "Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy" announced that it had breached the P400 million mark in gross earnings last Friday, beating the record set by "Sisterakas." On Monday's episode of "Kris TV," Aquino admitted that the rivalry affected her friendship with the "It's Showtime" host. "Let's be honest: Siyempre may effect sa amin. 'Lakas talaga,' ganoon ang sabi niya. Then I told him, 'Tapos na 'yan ha?' Sabi niya, 'Oo naman. Nagulat lang ako na ganon sila kalakas.' Tapos sinabi ko, 'Bata eh.' 'Yun lang. Since that time, we've been texting. We are okay," said Aquino, who is also one of the producers of "My Little Bossings," which marked the movie debut of her youngest son James "Bimby" Yap Jr. "My Little Bossings" also stars child actress Ryzza Mae Dizon and veteran comedian Vic Sotto. Aquino said the box-office competition made her ponder about the nature of friendship. "Parang ang friendship siguro goes through phases, hindi ba? It just so happened that this was a rivalry. I tried to tell myself na it's really not about me and my Bimby, it could be about the two noontime shows," mused Aquino, referring to the ratings war between Sotto's "Eat Bulaga" and Vice Ganda's "It's Showtime." "Parang tintry ko to look at it from that perspective and I also tried to look at it at the perspective na six years old si Bimb at si Vice in his late 30s. So sinabi ko life-long sa kanya ito at once lang sa kabataan ng anak ko. So parang naisip ko, happy-happy we all won," she added.
