Megawide-GMR submit surprise top bid for Cebu airport PPP

Megawide Construction emerged as the surprise top bidder for the Mactan Cebu airport PPP project, beating bigger rivals such as Pangilinan-Gokongwei, Ayala-Aboitiz, San Miguel and SM groups. Megawide partnered with GMR Infrastructure, the operator of the Delhi airport in India to submit a bid of P14.4 billion. The next highest bid of P14 billion came from Filinvest, partnered with Changi airport. Megawide is a PSE-listed companya nd a major contractor of one of its rival bidders, SM. While Megawide is the top bidder, it is not yet officially the winner. The government will still check its bid to make sure it complies with all of the requirements.
