What MMDA, M. Manila mayors are doing for typhoon-hit areas

MANILA -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and 17 Metro Manila mayors have adopted typhoon-hit areas for a year as part of the national government's rehabilitation and recovery plan. Speaking to "Mornings @ ANC" on Thursday, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the mayors will assist in the reconstruction efforts in the areas that they adopted. The MMDA adopted Sulat in Eastern Samar and Coron in Palawan. The 17 cities, meanwhile, adopted the following Yolanda-devastated areas: Quezon City - Palampon, Tolosa, and Sante Fe in Leyte Pasig City- Mayorga, Palo, Barotac Viejo, Barotac Nuevo, and Dumangas in Iloilo Mandaluyong City - Isabel and Tanauan in Leyte Marikina City - Hernani and Lorente in Eastern Samar San Juan - Ormoc City and Albuera in Leyte Taguig City - General MacArthur, Guiuan, Salcedo, Mercedes and Quinapondan in Eastern Samar Las Pinas City - Julita and Dulag in Leyte Caloocan City - Abayog, MacArthur, and La Paz in Leyte Malabon City - Bogo, Cebu Navotas City - Lawaan and Giporlos in Eastern Samar Valenzuela City - Basey and Marabut in Western Samar Paranaque City - Maydolong and Balanginga in Eastern Samar Pasay City - Barauen, Tabon-Tabon, and Dagami in Leyte Muntinlipa City - Alang-Alang and Jaro in Leyte Manila - Balangkayan and Taft in Eastern Samar Makati City - Carigara, Leyte Meanwhile, Tolentino said the MMDA's 300-strong rescue and humanitarian assistance team is back home and undergoing stress debriefing.
