Report: PH to say sorry for Taiwan fisherman's slay

MANILA - The Philippines will reportedly send a special envoy to Taiwan to apologize for the fatal shooting of a Taiwanese fisherman in Batanes last May. Reports say the family of the slain fisherman has agreed to meet with a representative of the Philippine government. The reports have yet to be confirmed but the move is seen to ease strained relations between Taiwan and the Philippines. Both countries have launched probes into the incident but have not revealed the results of the investigations. The National Bureau of Investigation has recommended filing criminal charges against members of the Coast Guard involved in the killing. ANC Dateline Philippines, August 6, 2013
