Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary once again emphasized that the whitelist removal decision is to practice proper export management... not to impose economic retaliations over historical issues.
Ironically, Yoshihide Suga also called on Seoul to address the compensation issue of Japan's wartime forced labor in a wise manner, saying it's the biggest problem standing in the way of bilateral ties.
He added that the Japanese government is determined to urge South Korea to resolve any violations of international law caused by its Supreme Court ruling.
Last year, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the South Korean victims.
