Japan's trade minister says Tokyo is open to talks with Seoul to resolve their trade dispute, but only if Korea meets what he called "preconditions."
In an interview with Japan's Sankei Shimbun, Hiroshige Seko explained that in order for director-level dialogue to resume, Seoul must correct its description of last month's meeting in Tokyo.
He claimed the nation misled the public by calling that meeting a "negotiation" where Seoul demanded Japan withdraw its export curbs.
The official claims the Korean side had accepted that the session was a just a one-way briefing of Japan's decision, without any demands from the Korean delegation.
