Daniel, the meeting took place for about thirty minutes today,... and we have details from the meeting from Minister Kang's overall briefing of the whole ASEAN ministerial meetings.
She once again strongly criticized the unfairness of Japan's trade restrictions and expressed regret over Tokyo's decision.
She added that the U.S. also expressed concerns on the issue.
Have a listen.
"The U.S. expressed concerns over the ongoing dispute between South Korea and Japan, stressing that the two sides need to talk in order to solve the problem, while offering to play a role to help resolve the issue."
Minister Kang then said that Seoul will make diplomatic efforts and work with related ministries to counter this issue.
Meanwhile, Ministers Kang and Kono were supposed to have their separate bilateral talks with Secretary Pompeo before the trilateral sitdown, but both of them got canceled due to a schedule delay.
