DTC Bill will encourage people to pay taxes, says task force member Mukesh Patel

After working for over 21 months and conducting more than 90 meetings, a task force led by CBDT member Akhilesh Ranjan has submitted its report on the proposed direct taxes code to finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman today. The panel's report also includes a draft bill which is expected to replace the 58 year old Income Tax Act. The reforms recommended by the taskforce are aimed at simplifying income tax provisions and improving tax certainty among others. Timsy Jaipuria spoke with Mukesh Patel, a member of the tax force on DTC to find out how this report will benefit the common man and India Inc.
