Amid heightening tensions between Seoul and Tokyo, Japanese media outlets say the Abe administration should better reflect on the country's wartime atrocities... in order to improve ties.
In an editorial published by Asahi Shimbun on Saturday,... the newspaper pointed to historical issues as the root cause of the trade spat between the two countries,... and said Japan made a mistake to engage in economic retaliations.
It added... the Abe administration needs to uphold promises made by previous administrations,... and come to terms with Japan's wartime history.
Tokyo Shimbun also reported the same day... that the souring of bilateral ties with Seoul could hurt Japan... and that the two sides should resolve the issue through dialogue.
