President Moon's Liberation Day speech garnered positive reaction from Japan

President Moon Jae-in's Liberation Day speech seems to have received a somewhat positive reaction from Japan.
Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun wrote today that Tokyo reportedly welcomed the speech.
It quoted Japan's defense minister Takeshi Iwaya as saying Moon's speech struck a significantly "moderate tone" compared to other recent remarks.
Iwaya added that the defense cooperation between South Korea and Japan and the trilateral alliance with the U.S. are facing a critical time.
He promised Tokyo's cooperation with Seoul on key matters,... adding it's desirable for both sides to extend the military information-sharing pact known as GSOMIA.
But when it came to historical issues,... there was not much change.
The paper quoted a senior Japanese official as saying that Tokyo hoped Seoul would correct its "violation" of international law over the wartime forced labor issue.
