Japanese media respond to Moon's Liberation Day speech

While Tokyo has not officially responded to President Moon's Liberation Day speech on Thursday,... which called for dialogue to resolve their ongoing trade dispute,... Japanese media outlets have remarked on Moon's push for talks.
The Japan Times on Thursday reported that the South Korean president struck a "conciliatory tone" towards Japan and offered to "join hands" if the Abe government chose to engage in dialogue.
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun and Yomiuri Shimbun also said.... that Moon "suppressed criticism of Japan" in his speech,... and did not touch on specific issues such as Japan's wartime forced labor program and its sexual enslavement of Korean women.
The papers quoted Moon's call for dialogue and cooperation.
However, the reports noted there is still a "deep divide" between Seoul and Tokyo,... given their differences on historical issues.
