MANILA, Philippines – Defending UAAP champions Ateneo finally claimed their first win of Season 76 after routing the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 71-59. Ateneo welcomed back star guard Kiefer Ravena, but it was veterans Juami Tiongson, Ryan Buenafe and JP Erram who sparked the Blue Eagles to their maiden victory. Tiongson broke out of his slump and scored 15 points, while Erram had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Buenafe finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. In an earlier game, the National University Bulldogs used a big run in the fourth quarter to defeat the UP Fighting Maroons, 74-60. The Bulldogs blew the game wide open in the fourth period as the Maroons did not score their first field goal of the period until the 3:41 mark. Two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player Ray Parks finished the game with 18 points, 14 of them coming from the free throw line. NU now has a record of 3-1, tied for second place. --Mornings @ ANC, July 15, 2013
