Air pollution driven by climate change in China will only get worse, leading to even more deaths... on top of the current one million air pollution-related deaths every year.
This is according to research by Chinese professor Zhang Qiang and German doctor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber.
They compared temperatures and air quality between 2006 and 2010 with projections for the next 40 years and estimated that air quality will worsen in over 55 percent of the country.
The researchers also concluded that 40 percent of air pollution-related deaths will be due to atmospheric stagnation and six percent because of heatwaves.
