A Japanese local government is pushing for emergency loans for businesses affected by a sharp decline in South Korean tourists.
In a press conference last week, Tottori Prefecture governor Shinji Hirai ( ) said the regional government will dish out financial support,... to prepare for the expected impact on local tourism and businesses,... as the influx of South Korean visitors drastically stopped due to a travel boycott stemming from Japan's trade curbs.
He said South Koreans are the "top" visitors to the prefecture and as such, the local government is aiming at rolling out a loan measure that's reserved for emergency situations.
