South Korea's National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang says the issue of Japan's wartime sexual slavery of Korean women requires a sincere apology.
In an interview with the Japanese daily Asahi Shimbun on Sunday,... Moon said there have been talks between Seoul and Tokyo over the issue,... but they have produced no fruitful outcomes as grief, anger and bitterness lingers in the hearts of the victims.
However, the speaker expressed sorrow for his earlier remarks in which he called for Japan's emperor to apologize for the issue,... saying he would like to say sorry for those whose feelings have been hurt by his remarks.
The parliamentary speaker went on to say that he has drawn up a bill that will support victims of the Japan's colonial-era forced labor.
Speaker Moon arrived in Japan on Sunday for a four-day trip to attend G20 Speakers' Summit.
