Unsure if the eggs in your fridge are past its prime? Here's a simple trick to test how fresh your eggs are or if its best to just throw them out.

This simple test works because over time air passes through the shell into the egg. Fresh eggs sink to the bottom because they haven't been exposed to much air. The older eggs would contain more air. The longer the egg has been sitting in the shelf, the more air enters the shell, the more the egg floats in the water.

Bonus tip: The older but still safe to eat eggs that sink in an upright or tilted position are the best ones to use for hard-boiled eggs.
