Chief Executive Carrie Lam says protesters’ hope for ‘revolution’ will ‘destroy Hong Kong’s prosperity’

As Hong Kong was brought to a near standstill by a citywide general strike the city’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam held her first press conference in two weeks. Meeting the press late morning on Monday, August 5, 2019, the Hong Kong leader described the actions of protesters as threatening Hong Kong’s “prosperity and stability”.
