Thousands rally to denounce violence and support Hong Kong police as they urge protesters to ‘give peace a chance’

Thousands of people took part in a rally under the title “A Hopeful Tomorrow” to protest against recent violence in Hong Kong and support the city’s  police force. The rally at the city’s Victoria Park in Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island, featured speeches and music, and pressed a message about countering recent violence with the slogan “Give Peace a Chance”.  The event got underway as thousands of extradition bill protesters began a separate march across the harbour in Kowloon.
