Protesters took to the streets of San Juan in Puerto Rico earlier on Tuesday (July 23) to demand their governor's resignation.

Footage shows a crowd of demonstrators waving Puerto Rico flags as they shout "Ricki renuncia" (Ricki, resign).

The protests erupted after offensive chat messages between the governor Ricardo Rosselló and members of his inner circle published earlier this month.

The chief of staff is expected to resign later today.
