4th Chungmuro International Musical Film Festival kicks off in Seoul

It's that time of the year again for arts and culture lovers here in Seoul... as the fourth-edition of the Chungmuro International Musical Film Festival kicked off its four-day run on Wednesday.
This year's festival combines film, musicals, and performances for an exciting and unique experiences for the audience.
Our Kan Hyeong-woo tells us more.

Often cited as the best film in Korean cinema history,... Obaltan, or The Aimless Bullet, has graced the silver screen to mark the opening of this year's Chungmuro International Musical Film Festival.
Live music performances and dubbings breathed new life into the 1961 iconic film.

"Chungmuro is another name for Korean film culture and industry. So we also emphasize the tradition of Korean cinema and we tried to revitalize the classical cinema and introduce them to young audience."

Re-interpreting the traditional concept of musical films with live narration and sing along screenings,… the festival has prepared a special blend of films, musicals and concerts.

"I first came to the festival two years ago. And it was shocking. I personally enjoy a lot of cultural activities including movies, acts and musicals. But this particular festival was something very new and distinct. I hope this type of fine performances and shows continue to take place for many years to come."

Screening eighteen movies over the course of four days,… the fourth installment of the musical film festival runs through Saturday July 13 at the Chungmu Arts Center in Seoul.
Tickets are available both on the official website of the Chungmu Arts Center and at on-site sales booths.
