Police in the Philippines seized and destroyed decades-old arcade video game machines used for underground gambling.

At least 75 illegal horse racing video games called "video karera" and fruits game arcade machines were confiscated by the city government on July 3 in Manila following a two-day operation of the police to "rid Manila of illegal activities''.

Manila Police Chief Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr. said that these machines had hooked even children into gambling.

"The city government's priority here is to rid the city of these activities because it has affected the youth. We have seen reports of minors getting addicted to these gambling machines," said Danao in a statement during the destruction of the machines.

During the confiscation of the machines, Manila police also arrested some teenagers playing the video karera machines. The minors were immediately released.

Except for the televisions that will be donated to public schools, all the machines were destroyed. The coins seized inside the machines will also be donated to charity according to Danao.
