Singapore Police Arrest 31 in World Cup-Related Illegal Gambling Raid

The Singapore Police Force has released footage from a coordinated raid on several locations on July 2 which saw over S$1.2 million seized as part of a crackdown on illegal gambling surrounding the World Cup.In all, 28 locations were raided and 31 arrests were made, police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation and Intelligence) Florence Chua said in a statement released to the Straits Times, that the operation was part of “ongoing efforts to stamp out unlawful remote gambling.”Chua said, “Police take a serious view against such activities and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those who flout the law, including those who assist remote gambling syndicates in any way.”Note: This story was originally published on July 3, and updated on July 9.
