Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors announce record domestic sales, highest in 17 years

Korean automakers Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors... have announced record domestic sales,... the highest in 17 years.
According to Hyundai Motor Group Sunday,... in the first five months of 2019,... Hyundai Motor sold over 320-thousand vehicles, while Kia Motors sold more than 200-thousand,... topping a previous record seen in 2002, over the same period.
The company attributed the brisk sales... to the government's tax cut on passenger cars... and a sluggish performance by imported brands.
Between January and May this year, Hyundai and Kia's combined sales accounted for nearly three-quarters of the Korean automobile market.
