One such startup is Bengaluru based Ather Energy. When IIT Madras alumni Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain started out in 2013, many dismissed their vision as a pipe-dream or at best an interesting project. Venture capitalists argued that the large automakers would leave them far behind in the EV race.
