Long before today's football champions there were trailblazers who beat a path for them. In 1971 the unofficial England World Cup squad went to Mexico to play in front of 95,000 fans.
But, on their return, the England Football Association banned the women from playing and daring to represent their country. Their coach went on to create a women's national team.
