U.S. President Donald Trump will meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping... at a Group of 20 summit taking place in Tokyo later this month,... with a view of resuming talks to overcome trade hostilities.
That's according to U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Saturday.
He did not provide any futher details, but earlier said... the face-to-face meeting could see "main progress"... in settling the dispute between the world's two biggest economies.
Negotiations broke down in early May,... with both sides launching a series of trade threats and tariffs thereafter.
Mnuchin will also meet with People's Bank of China Governor Yi Gang on Sunday,... on the sidelines of the G20 meeting.
He has, however, downplayed the significance of the meeting,... saying it won't be a negotiating session.
