Today marks the 64th Memorial Day for Korea.
On this public holiday, many people got up early and made sure to visit the memorial halls to remember the patriots who fought for the country.
Yoon Jung-min takes us there.
To commemorate fallen patriots and war veterans on Memorial Day, many visit the war memorial hall located in Seoul.
"This place, the War Memorial of Korea, holds the memories of the tragic wars on the Korean Peninsula and commemorates the spirit of those who fought for their country."

War remains, wax figures and paintings on display show memories of brutal battles. On June 25th, 1950, the Korean War broke out as North Korea crossed the border at the 38th parallel. The war ended in 1953, when the armistice agreement was signed. Until this day, Korea remains separated by the Demilitarized Zone.
"I feel thankful for those soldiers for all their hard work to defend our country. I feel proud of them."
Koreans were not the only ones involved in the war. The memorial hall also commemorates the sacrifices and friendships of South Korea's allies during the war, including forces from the United Nations who fought against the North Korean army backed by Chinese military.
"Ethiopia has fought for the Korean War during the UN participation. So, I feel proud that my country has fought for Korean freedom and rights."
This year, the friendship between South Korea and Norway is highlighted with a photo exhibition to mark the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. During the war, Norway established a field hospital in Korea and treated more than 90-thousand people.
Every year on this day, many reflect on the true meaning of peace and freedom by commemorating all the patriots who fought for the country.
