According to Seoul's top intel agency those projectiles could be a new type of weapons system.
The National Intelligence Service explained, that's why the government is taking longer to determine what type of missiles they were.
It also analyzed Thursday's firing was part of a military drill but clearly violated September's inter-Korean military agreement.
The NIS agreed with the Cheongwadae's assessment... that the Pentagon's statement classifying the projectiles as 'ballistic missiles' does not appear to be the official stance of the U.S. government.
