Former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is scoffing at the notion that she tried to rig her party's primary, adding that while supporters of Bernie Sanders loathe her, she became a scapegoat for the failures of the Vermont senator's campaign.

"I will be frank with you, if I was trying to rig the outcome of this primary, trust me, I could have, there are so many things that we, not I, could have done to enhance the campaign of one candidate over another," Wasserman Schultz said in an excerpt from an interview airing Friday evening on "Vice News Tonight".

Wasserman Schultz unceremoniously resigned as chairwoman on the eve of the Democratic National Convention after leaked emails showed top party officials talking dismissively of Sanders and appearing to take efforts to undermine his campaign.
