TMC, BJP complains to Election Commission over West Bengal violence | Lok Sabha Elections 2019

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a sensational claim amid the unruly scenes and violent clashes that were witnessed in West Bengal today. Mounting an attack on Mamata Banerjee, the PM said that at least 40 TMC MLAs were in touch with the BJP. Meanwhile, Asansol sitting MP Babul Supriyo was heckled and he complained that BJP agents were removed from polling booths forcibly. However, later the poll panel pulled up Supriyo and lodged an fir against him for intimidating poll staff. The TMC, in its version of events, claimed that Supriyo's men had instigated the crowds . The TMC told the election commission that Babul Supriyo had barged into a poll booth along with his security and argued with the polling agent when he confronted him. A massive clash broke out in Asansol's Durgapur and rapid action force were deployed to control the situation. A section of voters in a booth in Jemua boycotted elections due to the absence of central forces.In each phase of these elections, polls in West Bengal have been marred by violence. There have been at least 2 deaths, including that of a congress activist and a polling agent.
