Pork prices in South Korea have soared by nearly 17 percent this month amid the outbreak of African Swine Fever in China.
According to the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation,... the retail price of pork stood at almost four U.S. dollars a kilogram on average in April,... a whopping 36 percent increase from less than three dollars a month before.
Pork belly meat,... the most favored cut in Korea,... also rose ten percent this month,... at nearly 16 dollars a kilogram.
Market watchers also say the pork prices may continue to rise due to a shortage of imported pork meat due to the outbreak of African Swine Fever in China.
