U.S. carries out aircraft carrier operations in Mediterranean Sea, seen as apparent message to Russia

The U.S. is flexing its military muscle in the Mediterranean Sea, deploying two Nimitz-class aircraft carriers,... the USS John C. Stennis and the USS Abraham Lincoln.
CNN introduced the operations,... explaining it has exclusive access to the two carrier strike groups involving several ships and up to 120 aircraft each.
In a rare move, Washington's ambassador to Russia also took part.
The operations are seen as a warning to Russia which aims to strengthen its influence in the Mediterranean with the deployment of warships to the region.
