Four of the nine key figures of Hong Kong’s Occupy movement were jailed on April 24, 2019, for their roles in the 79-day pro-democracy protest in 2014. Benny Tai and Chan Kin-man face the longest sentences of 16 months behind bars. Legislator Shiu Ka-chun and League of Social Democrats vice-chairman Raphael Wong each received eight-month sentences.
