Seo Bo-bin reports.
U.S. Federal authorities have revealed they made an arrest last Thursday,.. in connection with the raid on the North Korean Embassy in Madrid.
Christopher Ahn, a former U.S. Marine, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Los Angeles.
According to the U.S. attorney's office in the city, Ahn made an initial court appearance on Friday, and was taken into custody.
The arrest comes as Free Joseon, a North Korean dissident group, claimed responsibility for February's brazen raid.
However, it's not clear what Ahn has been charged with,... as his case remains under seal.
A posting on the court's website only reveals Ahn being listed as an extradition case,... as a spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals said the arrest was made on a provisional warrant from Madrid.
Ahn is due back in court for a detention hearing on Tuesday.
Also last Thursday, armed U.S. federal agents raided the apartment of Adrian Hong, the leader of Free Joseon.
Sources say Hong was not present at his residence when the raid happened.
According to a court in Spain, at least ten people stormed into the North Korean Embassy in Madrid,... restrained and physically beat some personnel,... held them hostage for hours before fleeing.
Spanish investigators say the intruders removed computers and hard drives from the embassy before fleeing to the U.S.
