A North Korean soldier who defected to the South in 2017 by crossing the heavily patrolled border... gave his first U.S. television interview... detailing the day of his dramatic escape.
NBC reported Monday... Oh Chong-song... recalled he was afraid when heading to the South... which he says was unplanned even in the morning of the desperate dash.
Oh says he is still incredulous of how he made it past the border to the South, especially when watching the footage taken by security cameras.
The defector explained, he can only attribute the fact that he is still alive to a miracle.
Oh added he hadn't planned to defect to the South... and that he didn't blame the North Korean soldiers who shot at him... saying he understood their situation... that he would have done the same if their roles were reversed.
