More Top Homeland
Security Officials to
Exit in Trump Purge Sources say that three more
top Homeland Security officials
are expected to leave the department. The head of U.S. Citizenship
and Immigration Services,
the Secret Service director and the
agency’s general counsel will depart the agency. Their exits come a day after
President Donald Trump
announced that secretary Kirstjen
Nielsen would be "leaving her position." While all of the
officials were
appointed by
the president, they are seen as allies
of Trump's former chief of
staff, John Kelly, who left the
administration in late 2018. Trump has picked
seasoned Secret Service
official James M. Murray to head
the department beginning in May. The president has
demanded a "tougher"
stance on border security.
