President Trump removed chief strategist Steve Bannon from the National Security Council on Wednesday. The shift was carried out by Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, Trump’s national security adviser. Bannon's camp denied that the move was a signal of demotion, and said it was a natural evolution. Bannon, the former chairman of Breitbart News, was a controversial pick for national security adviser, having no prior experience in government.
