On December 8, 2018, Patrice Philippe took part in a demonstration for the first time in his life, joining the "yellow vests" for a Saturday of protests. The 49-year-old former truck driver, who lives in the Pyrenees Atlantiques, in southwestern France, went to Paris for the occasion. As he tried to leave the Champs-Elysees, where tensions were high, he says he was hit in the right eye by a shot fired from an LBD, or defence ball launcher, which shoots 40-millimeter rubber rounds. Now unemployed, he is trying to rebuild his life, while fighting a new battle against police use of non-lethal weapons.THIS VIDEO IS PART OF A SERIES ON PROTESTERS INJURED BY RIOT CONTROL WEAPONS
