Speaking at a meeting attended by officials from the trade, SMEs, infrastructure and labor ministries on Wednesday,... Hong said the government is inviting investment from the private sector to build a cluster in the city of Yongin, Gyeonggi-do Province, around 50 kilometers south of Seoul.
South Korean chipmaker SK hynix will build the cluster.
The groundbreaking will begin by 2021,... and the government estimates the compound will create about 17-thousand new jobs and bring added value of roughly 170 billion U.S. dollars.
More than 50 subcontractors will join the cluster, meaning more cooperation with chipmaker giants and an increase in overall competitiveness in the field.
