Avocados Recalled
in Six States Over
Listeria Contamination The Henry Avocado Corporation
announced a voluntary recall on
their California-grown avocados
due to a possible contamination. A routine inspection of their
new California facility revealed
positive results for listeria. This infectious bacteria causes
symptoms similar to food poisoning
and can severely affect those with
weakened immune systems. The recalled avocados were both
conventional and organically grown,
and were distributed in bulk to
retail stores across six states. The affected states are Arizona,
California, Florida, New Hampshire,
North Carolina and Wisconsin. The company is currently
contacting buyers to ensure
the recalled avocados are
removed from stores. They have also urged consumers
who have purchased the recalled
avocados to discard them or
return them for a full refund. In a statement, the company
said that there have been
no reported illnesses
associated with their recall.
