Court reviews arrest warrant for ex-minister Kim Eun-kyung over alleged abuse of power

Seoul Eastern District Court held a hearing on Monday to decide whether to issue an arrest warrant for former environment minister Kim Eun-kyung .
Kim, who headed the ministry from 2017 to 2018, is accused of abusing her power by forcing officials considered critical of the incumbent administration to step down and replacing them with nominees of her own choice without a selection process.
Kim strongly denies all allegations.
If the court issues the warrant, she will be the first former Cabinet member of the current Moon Jae-in administration to be taken into custody.
The decision on her arrest is expected to be announced late Monday or early Tuesday.
