The Seoul Central District Court's decision comes 58 days after the prosecution started a probe into Cho's family over allegations regarding the forgery of a college presidential citation, a dubious financial investment and academic favors.
The court said it was concerned evidence may be destroyed in light of the current investigation.
She is alleged to have been involved in forging a college presidential citation in relation to her daughter's academic admission.
Chung also faces allegations of embezzlement and capital market law violation for an over 850-thousand U.S. dollars PEF investment by herself and her two children.
With this latest development, there's a high possibility the prosecution will be calling in her husband for questioning.
