Both the Tamil Nadu parties AIADMK and DMK have promise the release of 7 convicts of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, in their election manifestos released today. DMK has approached both the state and the centre on several occasions previously, demanding the release of all the 7 convicts in the state. The centre has several times opposed the release of these convicts in court, claiming that the assassination was too brutal to show any lineancy. Although Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said that he does not have any hatred for the killers, remains to be seen if he will okay the release of his father's killers.
