S. Korea becomes 11th largest arms exporter as weapons exports rise by 94%

South Korea's weapons exports over the past five years have increased almost twofold, making the country the world's 11th largest exporter of weaponry.
According to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute,... South Korea's total weapons exports for the 2014-to-2018 period were 94-percent higher than the figures for the previous five years.
South Korea now takes up almost two-percent of the world's total arms exports.
The top two exporters were the United States and Russia.
Seoul's weapons imports were down by 9-percent, making the country the ninth largest arms importer.
The largest importers were Saudi Arabia, India and Egypt.
