President Trump responded to the New Zealand shooting on Friday.

President Trump on Friday offered sympathy in the wake of the mass shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.  "My warmest sympathy and best wishes goes out to the people of New Zealand after the horrible massacre in the Mosques," he wrote. "49 innocent people have so senselessly died, with so many more seriously injured. The U.S. stands by New Zealand for anything we can do. God bless all!"  The attacks occurred around the time of Friday Prayer and the New York Times reports: "A video and manifesto that appeared to be by a gunman involved in the shooting were posted online on the day of the attack."  Four people were detained and one, a man described as being in his 20s, has been charged with murder, notes the Times.   "What has happened in Christchurch is an extraordinary act of unprecedented violence," New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said via Twitter. "It has no place in New Zealand. Many of those affected will be members of our migrant communities – New Zealand is their home – they are us."
