The United State weighed in on the Pakistan Army through high level military channels to release Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman within hours and also made it clear to Pakistan that it is the only way to de escalate matters. General Votel's message opened up the path through which constant message was put out that Pakistan must release Wing Commander Abhinandan .
