Amid extreme hot and dry weather, bushfires have spread across large areas of Australia. Lightning strikes sparked the largest fire in Bunyip State Park, east of Melbourne, with emergency warnings issued and people evacuated. No injuries or deaths have been recorded but properties and large areas of land have been destroyed. The heatwave has broken 131 years of temperature records in Australia.
