Memorial altar for Sewol-ho ferry disaster in Seoul will be removed

After more than four years and eight months, the memorial altar set up for the Sewol-ho ferry disaster victims in Gwanghwamun Square will be removed.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Thursday that the families of the victims have agreed for the altar to be removed.
A day earlier, the metropolitan government approved of the city's plan to establish a new memorial space for those victims,... which is scheduled to open by next month.
But, the families of the victims and the government disagree on whether the new space will be a permanent fixture in Gwanghwamun Square.
The government is not accepting demands that the space be fixed due to the remodeling of Gwanghwamun Square slated to start in January next year.
